Governor Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe state says the state has never received any money from the federal government for as a paliative following the insurgency in the state.
Governor gaidam told a crowd of APC supporters at the government house Damaturu, who gathered to witness his assent to the 2016 finance and appropriation bill, explained that the state had only benefittted from twenty million naira from the victiom support fund.
according to him, only sixteen million of the twenty million naira was given to the specialist hospital Damaturu for the free treatment of victims of boko haram attacks in the hospital.
The governor explained that the only money the state will boast to have gotten was the fifty million naira donated to the state by the Lagos state government, which was extended to Adamawa and Borno states.
He said the state government has been spending huge sum of money in providing water, medical care, food and education to the internally Displaced persons in the three major camps and those in host communities.
in another development, the general manger of the state rural water supply and sanitation agency (RUWASA) comrade mohammed M Bukar has restated the determination of his agency to provide portable water and sanitation facilities to the internally Displaced persons in all recognised camps.
he said RUWASA in collaboration with its partner agencies such as UNICEF, Medecine San Frontiere and ACF are working toward improving the sanitary condition of the IDPs, adding that adequate water supply has been maintained in the camps. this according to him had convinced the IDPs to apply for plots of land in Kuka reta to enable them settle there permanently.
the General manager stated that RUWASA will soon construct 5 blocks of 2 compartment latrine and shower room at Abbari-YBC host community with a view to discouraging open defecation among the IDPs.
He commended the state governor Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam for his concern towards the welfare of the IDPs.
